Marwood School October 2019

Everyone at school has made a great start to this school year.  Children have had visits out of school; including a great day learning about Stone Age people at Kents Cavern in Torquay; sporting teams have represented the school in football and running and the whole school enjoyed a space day with the Space Odyssey Dome up in the school hall.

As the term progresses there are some important dates to share with the community.

Senior Citizens’ Christmas Lunch at School– Wednesday 4th December 1:15pm £5:00 per person.  Penny and Sam will prepare a two course turkey dinner which some of our older children will help to serve.  If you would like to book a place please contact the school office 01271 850395 or admin@marwood.devon.sch.uk

Marwood School Association Christmas Fair from 2:00pm Friday 6th December – open to all.  The hall will be decorated and refreshments available.  Stall holders will be selling great items for Christmas gifts and tickets will be available to enter the amazing Christmas hamper draw.  To entertain children Class 4 will be running their enterprise games and challenges.

Whole School performance – Tuesday 10th December 1:30pm Class 1 and 2 Nativity and Class 3 and 4 songs. An opportunity for the whole school to celebrate Christmas together.

Opportunities to get involved with life at Marwood School.

School Governor Vacancy – would you like to join an active governing body overseeing the work that goes on at Marwood?  This is an exciting time as we have formed a Cooperative Trust with the other schools in the Braunton community.  Please contact the school office for further details.

Meal Time Assistant – required for an hour 12:00-1:00 each day to support the children having their lunch and enjoying a great and active playtime.  Please contact the school office for further details – a full DBS check will be undertaken.

THE B3230 CLOSURE FOR REPAIRS FROM 2ND JANUARY 2020

Should the length of this road closure be seriously questioned? The closure was originally for two months, now extended to three months, why is that? Clearly the work needs to be done but can full closure be minimised and could traffic lights be used for at least some of the time instead of full closure? How many contractors are being employed to minimise the completion time? Is quoting H&S an easy option for full closure for the DCC planners? Can we get an explanation of the work and the planned schedule at a future meeting to be addressed by the DCC engineer in charge of the project, with updates on the Marwood Matters website? Go along to the PC meeting on Thursday 5th December at 7.30pm at the Marwood Methodist Church to show your support for raising the issue that affects so many residents.
